The Detroit Tigers are an American professional baseball team based in Detroit, Michigan. The Tigers compete in Major League Baseball MLB as a member of the American League AL Central division. They played their first Western League game at Bennett Park on April 28, 1896, defeating the Columbus Senators 172.
