Marshall Clement “Mark” Sanford Jr. born May 28, 1960 is an American politician of the Republican Party who served as a U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 1st congressional district from 1995 to 2001. Sanford was then elected Governor of South Carolina from 2003 until 2011. He ran again for the U.S. House and served from 2013 to 2019.
